Stefano and Marco,
a pair of illustrators from Turin,
are behind the name
Van Orton Design.
As well as working together, they are also brothers- twins in fact.
Toys, comics, posters and caps: stepping into their home-studio is like entering a time machine, a place that pays tribute to the cinematic and entertainment-based imagery of recent decades.
Surrounded by memorabilia and references to Terminator, Robocop and Super Mario Bros, we can see how much their art has been influenced by American pop culture.
Watching them at work is startling: every illustration is a crazy lattice of lines that, criss-crossing each other, outline distinct areas of psychedelic colours. An evolution of Gothic windows, in short, with the addition of symmetrical connections and luminous lines.
The Van Orton Design twins
began by reinterpreting
the icons of 1980s cult films:
An excellent launch pad in terms of visibility because they have since been contacted by brands such as Marvel, Sky, Sisley and Universal, as well as by leading musicians such as the Italian singer and songwriter Jovanotti.
They currently exhibit for several American galleries, in Los Angeles and San Francisco, but Stefano and Marco want to continue to widen the scope of their work in search of new languages in which to communicate their style.
